Thevenin Theorem

Consider this is a circuit:

Find V?
To solve for the given circuit:
  • For solving this circuit. First, Get the Zth and Vth. This is the rules for solving Thevenin Theorem.
  • For solving the Zth, kill all the sources that you can see to the circuit problem. Then assign a and b for the load and cut it.
     See circuit below!

  • You can now parallel the two element .
  • Then, for solving the Vth. Back the circuit into the original but, cut the load. See circuit below!

  •  Using Voltage division, you can now get the value for the Vth. Vth is the voltage in j4 ohms.
  • To solve for the V. The circuit now is like this. See circuit below!

  • Use voltage division to solve for the voltage at 3 ohms resistor.
  • Finish!
